He is ZIDO’s head volunteer, supervises and oversees all of ZIDO projects in Zanzibar and Pemba.
Of a very cheerful nature, he is kind, compassionate and loved by all villagers of Zanzibar and Pemba.
He speaks excellent English, Italian and is now picking up Gujarati words from Canadian volunteers.
The month of Ramadhan is the busiest time of the year for us where we distribute groceries to around 5,000 families living in extreme poverty, orphans, the disabled, and families suffering from albinism.
Mbanja starts shopping for groceries 6 weeks before the holy month. He makes all purchases, and with the help of our other 12 volunteers, packs, stores and distributes groceries to various villages in Zanzibar and Pemba islands.
Currently he is extremely busy with our new construction of the electric and solar wells.
